Akashaganga Teertham is one of the waterfalls found in the vicinity of the Venkateswara Temple in Tirupati. Pilgrims and tourists visit throughout the year. People believe this waterfall has divine origins. The surrounding nature adds to its charm. Many consider it a must-visit site in Tirupati.
My Experience About Akashaganga Teertham
It is because every ritual in Tirumala temple, such as puja, is performed with the holy waters of this Akashaganga Teertham. The legendary story is that Lord Venkateswara showed this waterfall to the priest to fetch water from this spot for daily poojas.
It is the tradition that the members of the priest Tirumala Nambi family are allowed to carry water from this waterfall to the temple for conducting the pujas and other services. But now TTD has put up water lines directly into the temple to simplify the process and time-consuming task of bringing water from here to the temple.
It is said that Akasaganga finds a place in the Vedas and that holy Akashaganga emanates from the Holy feet of Lord Vishnu. With glittering white water rushing out of the rocks, this Akashaganga Teertham looks even more beautiful, with greenery around during the rainy season.
Taking a bath here is really refreshing. It is believed that a bath in this sacred water would wash away the evils and confer good fortune on the devotees. Hence, they have coined a proverbial statement that Every pilgrim visiting Tirupati must and should visit Akashaganga and take a bath in this holy water.
The practice of bathing in river, ocean, lake and pond is that you should take water first in your hands and leave it three times as an offering to god and then sprinkle the water three times on your head then dip your head three times in the water and after cleans your body.
Best Time To Visit

In winter, temperature ranges from 15 to 30°C and in summer, from 20 to 40°C. The best time to visit is during July and September. You may visit at any time, and there is no time restriction. Still, after evening, it is not safe to go there.
It is about 5 km from Tirumala temple. On the way to Akashaganga Teertham, you may also visit other important spots like Gogarbham, Papavinasanam and Venugopala Swamy Temple. APSRTC bus service, private vehicles, and taxis are used to reach these places.
Take a bath to clean your body and freshen your mind, apart from automatic washing away of all your sins and gathering umpteen fortunes. Akashaganga Teertham offers a unique experience to all.
In your mind (silently), always say Govinda, Govinda because the Lord is pleased by silent prayer. Not in a showy and artificial way or by shouting at the sky as if He is deaf.
